3 A MOVEMENT IN MOTION 2019 WAS THE YEAR THE OR MOVEMENT REALLY STEPPED THINGS UP 2019 was the year the OR Movement really stepped things up. We could no longer remain indifferent to what was happening in our country! It seems that our role in bringing the vision to fruition, through actions and unifying activities, continues to gain both momentum and validity. It is our firm belief that the Negev and Galilee are not simply ‘distant outposts’, but rather, key channels to building the future a moment before it’s too late. To this end, we joined forces with hundreds of partners from across various sectors of society and worked adamantly towards achieving a task which has not been plainly stated since Herzl penned “Altneuland” - and together – we created the “Israel 2048 – A Shared Future” vision. With the goals of minimizing existing gaps, in equality and productivity, lowering the cost of living, providing support for the multiple challenges and obstacles in the country, we found a direction which addresses almost all of these for everyone. We researched, calculated, considered and understood that it was up to us to dig deep and expand our urban activities. We aim to make the development towns in the periphery into “equitable cities” in the “new centers” of Israel in the Negev and Galilee - homes to millions of jobs and residents of the future. Despite, and perhaps because, of all this, we strengthen our cooperation with the government, with local authorities and with new partners on this incredible journey – the continued founding of the State of Israel.
