As part of the “Israel 2048” vision, led by the OR Movement, the “Equitable Cities” program was conceived as a joint national project of the OR Movement, the Ministry for Social Equality and the Ministry of Housing.
The program is a multi-channel accelerator aimed to reduce gaps between development towns and the cities in the center of Israel, to strengthen the cities in the periphery, and as a result affect the whole region
The ultimate goal of the program is to help cities change misconceptions, remove the label of “development town,” and recognize them as cities of quality and potential with tight-knit communities and an abundance of opportunities. Components of the program include creating a detailed business plan for each city, community building, establishing impact groups, marketing and branding, and bringing together all of the key people and organizations in a collective impact towards a common goal.
The program will launch in four cities in the Negev and the Galilee chosen by a joint committee based on certain criteria: Akko, Kiryat Shmona, Ofakim, and Dimona. The program will launch in four cities in the Negev and the Galilee, Akko, Kiryat Shmona, Ofakim and Dimona, chosen by a joint committee based on specific criteria.
